Angora!

My angora has arrived! It got here yesterday. Here it is:



So, I dyed them in blue and yellow (Butterscotch was yellow and Bluebell was blue).



I'm just waiting for it to dry and then I'm going to attempt spinning.

Spinning!

So, I've decided to try to learn how to spin again. I've had a couple of attempts before, but it's not really led to anything. This time I'm going to document my tries, and let you all know how it's going. It would be great if you joined in.

As far as I know, the only things you need are a drop spindle and some roving.

I have a bottom whorl spindle. I can't remember who I bought it from, but it looks a lot like the ones available from Fawn Fibres on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/FawnFibers?sec...

On slipknots

A little while ago I was reading the techknitters blog and she recommended not using slipknots. After all, as she so rightly says, a knot anywhere in your work can make it look sloppy. Rather than making a slip knot, you just loop the yarn around the needle. Easy peasy.

The only thing is, I found that when I come to the loop it always looks baggy and well... not very nice. I felt a little disheartened by this. I didn't want to have a nasty knot in my work! But, I discovered a fix by accident. ...

Learning

I've started writing the tutorials for my Learn to Knit kits, and I've been thinking a lot about when I taught myself to knit. You see, I just grabbed a couple of books, armed myself with youtube and got cracking. I found it easier to follow with lots of pictures or a video. So, I've really tried to make these instructions as clear as possible with lots and lots of photos.

The thing is, I'm really struggling to slow down and remember how daunting it all was! Now it all just comes naturally, bu...
